VOCAL-NY Responds to New York Chief Judge Janet Difiore’s Resignation
NEW YORK — In response to news of New York Chief Judge Janet DiFiore stepping down, VOCAL-NY released the following statement:
“We have had a racist Court of Appeals for some time and this year really proved that as under DiFiore the court took away the civil rights of regular people and gave more power to the police, prosecutors, employers, landlords and corporations. We need Governor Hochul to step up and appoint a judge that will be fair and equitable instead of following in Governor Cuomo’s footsteps in creating a court that will just be about making the powerful more powerful and rubber-stamping the opinions of prosecutors,” said VOCAL-NY Civil Rights Union leader Roger Clark.
