Paula Santiago is VOCAL-NY’s Harm Reduction Coordinator. She was born in Farjado, Puerto Rico and moved to NYC when she was 11 years old. Paula worked with Streetworks on the Lower East Side, forming NYC’s first HIV+ support group for homeless youth, and co-founded the NY Peer AIDS Education Coalition.

She helped organize the first two Harm Reduction Conferences as a volunteer, and then joined the Harm Reduction Coalition as their Community Organizer before joining VOCAL-NY in 2014. In addition, she has published a book of Puerto Rican nationalist poetry and has testified before the Committee on Decolonization at the United Nations about freedom for Puerto Rico.
