Politico – Bloomberg: Unions hijacked Occupy protest

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg suggested Friday that unions took over the Occupy Wall Street protest yesterday.
Wayne Starks, a board member with the grassroots organization Vocal New York, reached out to POLITICO to challenge the mayor’s claim that most of the people protesting on Thursday were union members.
“I am a regular person. People from my community, from my organization, from my church, were out there,” Starks said. “I was out there protesting cuts they want to make towards Medicaid. I’m HIV positive, and when I don’t get my meds, I get very sick.”
