Civil Rights & Mass Incarceration

Prison & Parole Organizing and Advocacy

Mass incarceration hurts low-income communities in myriad ways, including destabilizing families and blocking access to jobs and housing. Our prison & parole organizing project is led by people who are formerly incarcerated working on campaigns that create opportunities for people with criminal records, reform parole, reduce high rates of re-arrest, and improve conditions inside prisons and jails.

Current campaign issues include:

  • Family reunification in public housing and Section 8
  • Housing discrimination
  • Prison-based gerrymandering
